Music Review | TVF Permanent Roommates Season 2 (Web Series) | Vaibhav Bundhoo

So here is my review for the music album of the season two of India's most loved web series - Permanent Roommates. TVF has released the soundtrack for TVF Pitchers, TVF Humorously Yours. Check out my review for TVFHY: here and TVF Pitchers: here if you haven't already. Next in line for the review is TVF Trpiling. Coming soon!
Like I said it before and I repeat it again, I recommend (but not a compulsion) watching the web series first to get the context of the music as well as this review. Moreover, I highly doubt if you are reading this then you've not already watched it. So without further ado, let's get right into it!

Album Release Date: 21st February 2017

Original Soundtrack Available here: http://tvfplay.com/episode/1/3/68/887

Pick Me Up / PR Theme (Instrumental)
Runtime: 1 minute 05 seconds
The only thing missing in this song is the sound of unlocking of the car at the very end of the song. I am used to listening to that in all the episodes. 🙈 Funny things aside, there not much to say about the theme song of India's first web series. The theme song of internet's most loved couple in India - Tankesh (Tanya + Mikesh). Close your eyes, visualize this song and if you feel the urge go to TVFPlay and check out the season again.

E01 - Tere Pyar Mein Pagal
Runtime: 2 minutes 33 seconds
I realized this now that Vaibhav Bundhoo tends to use autotune to suppress his different Hindi accent. I don't mind it though. This is a really cute and beautiful song. This is a stereotypical cheesy romantic Bollywood song yet I find it really appealing because it is an unexpected twist from TVF.

E02 - Yeh Kya Hua Humain
Runtime: 3 minutes 29 seconds
The song starts out really slow and acoustic. It gradually progresses to peppy number. While listening to the song it struck me that this song would be a really good track for karaoke in the club. The lyrics of the song lacks depth though.

E02 - Ishq Bin Kathin/ Phir Bhi (Sad Version)
Runtime: 4 minutes 13 seconds
Acoustic guitar strumming and whistle continues for half of the runtime of the song. The actual lyrics starts in the last 2 minutes. I really like how the lead vocal was in low notes and harmony was in high notes. This is a song of few words (quite literally!)

E03 - Khatri End Monologue
Runtime: 4 minutes 29 seconds
Just as Naveen and Mandal had their background track in TVF Pitchers, Ms/Mrs. Khatri has her own when she gives Tanya a reality check. Surprisingly the same track is used during Tanya comeback later in the episode. The track is dark and gloomy, don't listen to it when the sun is not shining outside or before going to bed.

E03 - LLEO 2.0
Runtime: 2 minutes 02 seconds
We all fell in love with Lleo's character when he replied "Jagah kaha hai?" to Mikesh's question about adding soda to his glass full of whiskey in season one.
This is the same tune used in that season. In this season he has shitload of money and sky high attitude. The song has been scaled up to that level of Lleo's swag. If you listen closely to the first 20 seconds of the song, it faintly sounds like a slow version of Darude -Standstorm.

E04 - Ishq Bin Kathin (Niceman)
Runtime: 4 minutes 13 seconds
Experimental version of the sad version. I didn't like this track. There is too much being played in it.

Tere Bina
Runtime: 2 minutes 57 seconds
The song starts off with saxophone. I expected it to be a jazz song but didn't turned out to be so. A minute into the song and already started losing interest in it. Wish it was as appealing as the series itself. And there is a random dialogue at 1:48 - "You got a piano. Piano?" I don't know why.

Pick Me Up (PR Theme)
Runtime: 3 minutes 21 seconds
This is the best song so far. This the full lyrical version of the theme song. However, some portions of the song feels amateurish in terms of music quality. Notice the snapping fingers part in the song. It feels like it's recorded on a phone.

The album is not a spectacular one. We feel attached to it because we have already seen the story of Mikesh and Tanya. We are already emotionally invested in all these songs even before this album was released. But if someone listens to this album before watching this season they wouldn't be amazed. So here are my favourites from the album:
Pick Me Up / PR Theme (Instrumental)
E01 - Tere Pyar Mein Pagal
E03 - LLEO 2.0
Pick Me Up (PR Theme)

That is all I have for this album. I hope you found this review useful. If you did then feel free to share it. Let me know you favourite song of the album in the comments below. Until then, Coooool...!
